About the Faith & Family Musical Theatre Fund

Our Perspective

To quote Dara Hogan in her article The Power of theater and live performance in The Omaha Performing Arts News:

“The power of live theater and performance is invaluable. The performing arts play an important role in lifting spirits, bringing people together and inspiring us all, especially in difficult times.”

Live theatre has an especially powerful connection with its audience. Researchers found that audiences’ heartbeats are even known to synchronize while watching live theatre.

It seems apparent to me that the material in these pieces of art needs to be connected with strong values and belief systems so the audience sees the truth and beauty of the life we are all called to live. I personally want to feel like I am a better person walking out of a show than when I walked in. I, as a musical theatre producer, feel a responsibility to seek out faith-filled, family-oriented shows for production to provide opportunities to challenge and grow faith, values, and commitment.

The business of live musical theatre is going through an awakening right now as more and higher quality shows become available. Families are finding better movies that feed their beliefs, depict individuals who have stood up against the status quo, and highlight modern families who stand together to face adversity.

In other words, film makers are getting the message!

Our Purpose

I want to bring people back into the theatre by providing strong, impactful and entertaining shows as well.  Unlike movies that can be watched at home, you must leave your comfort zone and engage with the public to watch live musical theatre. It is time to encourage and reward this extra effort by an audience and give them a show worthy of their attention, money, and time.

That is my calling as a musical theatre producer.

Our Process

I have found that though many qualified investors share in this desire, it is hard to make the large commitment usually required to invest in individual shows.  Most shows have a minimum of $30,000 or more, which can be off-putting for those who have never invested, or considered investing in the arts.

The Faith and family Musical Theatre Fund allows these qualified investors to invest at the level they are comfortable with; then the Fund picks the shows and invests as a single investor.

There are many benefits to this style of investing. Rather than risk everything in one show, the Fund can invest in several shows improving the returns on investment, much like stock funds. I will spend the time finding quality shows that will be produced in the right venue, with strong development, and great talent.  You, as an investor in the Fund, will always know which shows you have a stake in and take advantage of the benefits all investors in the show have access to.
